Over 2.4 million Singaporeans will benefit from the Enhanced Cost-of-Living Special Payment, receiving between S$400 and S$600 starting September 9. This initiative aims to support citizens facing rising living costs, with eligibility criteria including being a Singapore citizen, at least 21 years old in 2026, and having an assessable income not exceeding S$100,000 in 2025.1
The Ministry of Finance emphasized that no application is necessary for eligible citizens, streamlining the process to ensure timely assistance. This payment is part of a broader strategy to address economic challenges and support vulnerable populations in Singapore.
“We all know that preventing something from happening, dealing with the ‘known knowns’, is necessary but not sufficient,” said Defence Minister Chan Chun Sing, highlighting the government's proactive approach to economic vulnerabilities. The initiative reflects a commitment to ensuring that citizens are supported during challenging times, as the government continues to monitor and respond to economic conditions.
