His appointment follows a controversy involving alleged embezzlement of temple donations, resulting in the arrest of eight individuals and the resignation of Champat Rai as general secretary.12
The selection process, overseen by a committee led by retired Justice Pramod Kohli, utilized both AI-assisted screening and manual assessments. Out of the initial applications, 3,577 candidates were evaluated under a 600-mark framework, narrowing down to 108 candidates who scored 470 marks or more for virtual interviews. Ultimately, 16 candidates were interviewed in person in Ayodhya on August 11 and 12.
Mishra, a veteran with over 39 years of service in the Indian Air Force, was awarded the Sarvottam Yudh Seva Medal for his role in Operation Sindoor. He has also received the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal during his distinguished military career, which includes more than 3,000 hours of flying and commanding a fighter squadron and two frontline air bases.
His extensive experience and leadership skills are expected to guide the trust in managing the operations of the Ram temple effectively.
