The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the reconduction of the UGC-NET exams for English, Sociology, and Commerce after numerous complaints about errors in the question papers.123
A senior NTA official confirmed that a committee was formed to review the issues raised by candidates.
The UGC NET examination covers 87 subjects, but only three will undergo re-examination.
In addition, the NTA has released the provisional answer key for June 2026 for 84 subjects, allowing candidates to view their recorded responses on the official UGC NET website.
Candidates can challenge the provisional answers from August 16 to August 18, 2026, until 11:59 PM.
A processing fee of Rs 200 per question will be charged for challenges, which will be refunded if the challenge is accepted by subject experts.
The NTA has stated that corrections from accepted challenges will be applied uniformly to all candidates of that subject, eliminating the need for multiple submissions of the same challenge.
After the challenge process, the final answer key will be published, and no grievances will be entertained post the challenge window or after results are declared.
