Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid have joined forces to create a single faction named Together, with aspirations to unseat Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in upcoming elections. Their collaboration aims to overcome fragmented opposition and focus on shared electoral goals.

Bennett, who previously led as prime minister, stated, "This move is intended to unite the bloc, put an end to internal divisions, and focus all efforts on winning the critical upcoming elections - and leading Israel forward into the future," during the announcement.

Both leaders emphasized the urgency of their alliance, highlighting that an April 23 survey revealed Bennett securing 21 of the Knesset's 120 seats and Lapid's party securing only seven seats, which is significantly lower than their current standing of 24. Netanyahu's coalition currently holds only 50 seats.

The merger comes after their previous success in the 2021 election, which ended a 12-year rule for Netanyahu but resulted in a coalition that lasted less than two years. Bennett remarked that if elected, the new government would prioritize establishing a state commission of inquiry into the Hamas-led Oct. 7, 2023 attack.

Their political ideologies differ significantly, with Bennett holding hard-line views as an Orthodox Jew, while Lapid adopts a more moderate, secular stance. Lapid has called for the political center to unite, stating, “this country needs unity like air to breathe.”
