Morgan Fire burning near Mount Diablo prompts evacuation warning as blaze reaches 50 acres

The Morgan Fire, ignited near Mount Diablo in Contra Costa County, has rapidly spread to 50 acres with zero percent containment as of Friday evening. The fire began around 2 p.m. and initially burned 2 acres before escalating due to steep terrain.¹⁵⁶

The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District issued an evacuation warning for residents in Zones CCC-249 and CCC-250, advising them to prepare for possible evacuation. Although no evacuation order has been issued yet, officials emphasized the importance of readiness as conditions may worsen.³⁴

Firefighters are actively combating the blaze using both aerial and ground resources, including eight Type 1 air tankers and four helicopters. The fire is spreading at a moderate rate, and authorities have adjusted the estimated size from 125 acres to 50 acres following better mapping.

Residents are urged to gather essential items and prepare their pets for potential evacuation. The fire district's emergency alert advised, "Gather any important items you could carry with you, including medications, baby supplies, money, important papers, and photos." As of now, no structures have been reported as threatened or damaged.
