Milo Yiannopoulos held in ICE custody in Louisiana as DHS plans deportation after New Orleans arrest for overstaying

Milo Yiannopoulos, the British right-wing commentator, was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents at New Orleans International Airport for overstaying his visa. The Department of Homeland Security confirmed plans for his deportation, stating he is an "illegal alien from the United Kingdom."¹²

Yiannopoulos, who gained notoriety in the early 2010s for his role in the Gamergate harassment campaign, was issued a final order of removal by an immigration judge on July 22 after failing to attend his immigration hearing. He will remain in ICE custody pending removal, with family and legal representatives directed to contact the agency's office in Alexandria, Louisiana, a deportation hub for international flights.³

The incident has drawn attention from far-right activists, including Laura Loomer, who claimed responsibility for reporting Yiannopoulos to ICE and the FBI. Loomer stated, "I was the first person to report on the fact that Milo was in the US illegally where he incited violence against President Trump." Once a supporter of Trump's immigration policies, Yiannopoulos has since distanced himself from the movement, continuing to advocate for strict immigration measures, including ICE checkpoints in California.⁴⁵⁶

As recently as June, he called for immediate deportation for anyone unable to prove their legal status in the US, highlighting his controversial stance on immigration despite his own legal troubles.
