Milo Yiannopoulos, the controversial British far-right commentator, was deported to the UK after being arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. The deportation occurred on Friday, following his failure to attend an immigration hearing.12
Yiannopoulos, 41, had legally entered the U.S. in May 2019 but overstayed his visa, prompting a final order of removal issued on July 22 by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). A DHS spokesperson stated he “chose to overstay his welcome in violation of our nation’s laws.”
Known for his vocal support of Donald Trump during the 2016 campaign, Yiannopoulos has often espoused anti-Islamic and anti-immigrant rhetoric. He has called for stricter immigration enforcement, including ICE checkpoints at supermarket entrances. In a post on social media platform X, he stated, “We have got to deport millions and millions and millions of people. Without that, nothing else matters.”
The celebrity news site TMZ.com reported that Yiannopoulos was in New Orleans ahead of a scheduled performance by rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, on Friday night. His arrest and subsequent deportation highlight ongoing tensions surrounding immigration policies in the U.S.
