The new tool will introduce over 30 AI effects for Instagram Stories and will be available for image generation in direct chats on WhatsApp, initially in select countries. While basic usage is free, users may need to subscribe for additional features beyond a certain limit.
“Muse Image is our most advanced image generation model yet: it follows instructions faithfully, edits with precision, and draws on Instagram for social context,” said a Meta spokesperson. The model is also expected to be integrated into Facebook and Messenger in the future.4
In addition to individual users, advertisers will gain access to Muse Image for creating marketing materials, further expanding its utility. The model operates as an agent, utilizing search and coding tools to enhance accuracy and self-refine its outputs.

Meta's commitment to AI innovation is evident, as the company previously launched Muse Spark, a text-and-reasoning AI model, and is now previewing Muse Video, which promises high visual fidelity and audio support.
“Muse Video ranks No. 3 in human-preference Elo for text-to-video at the time of writing,” indicating Meta's competitive edge in the AI landscape.
Muse Image is currently available in the US and will soon expand to more regions, showcasing Meta's ambition to lead in generative AI technology.
“Muse Image allows users to generate images from text prompts and edit existing pictures, with basic use available for free. Additionally, advertisers will soon access the model to create marketing materials, enhancing Meta's offerings in the competitive AI landscape.”
