Maruti Suzuki Chairman RC Bhargava predicts the Indian car industry will expand to 6.3 million units by FY31, with small cars leading the growth. He attributes this to GST reforms that have positively impacted the economy, stating, "GST collections...have shown buoyancy and reached new high levels."1
In FY2025-26, Maruti achieved record sales of 24.22 lakh vehicles and a profit of ₹14,445.4 crore. The company is adapting to market demands, with sales of small cars growing 35% in the first quarter of this year. Bhargava emphasized the need for diverse technologies to reach Net Zero, announcing plans for four biogas plants at a cost of ₹561 crore.3
Meanwhile, the next-gen Hyundai Creta, set for a 2027 launch, will feature a hybrid engine and a new platform called ‘K3’. It promises a larger, more practical design with enhanced features, including a 12.9-inch touchscreen and advanced driver assistance systems. The Creta will be available in petrol, CNG, and hybrid variants, with an expected base price of ₹11.25 lakh.6
Bhargava noted, "Despite the Iran-US war...the Indian economy continues to do well and remains the fastest growing among larger countries."
