- Two people have died and two others were seriously injured in a road collision in Co Louth.
- The collision involving two cars occurred on the R173, The Bush, at around 3.10pm yesterday.
- A man and a woman, both in their 70s, in one of the cars were pronounced dead at the scene.
- The driver and passenger of the second car, a man and woman both aged in their 30s, were airlifted to Beaumont Hospital and the Mater Hospital in Dublin.
- The road was closed for a technical examination, but has since reopened.
- Gardaí are appealing to any witness or anyone travelling on the R173 between Dundalk and Carlingford between 2.30pm and 3.30pm yesterday and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam), to contact Dundalk Garda Station.

The deceased were identified as the male driver and female passenger of one vehicle, while the second car's occupants, a man and woman in their 30s, were airlifted to Beaumont Hospital and Mater Misericordiae University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.4
