A 55-year-old man has died after suffering a dog bite during an altercation on a footpath in Wakefield, leading to a murder inquiry by West Yorkshire Police. The incident occurred on Saturday, August 15, around 13:30 BST, off Blacker Lane in Calder Grove.1246
The victim was found critically injured and was taken to the hospital, where he died shortly after 19:00. Another man, also 55, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and for being the owner of a dog dangerously out of control, which caused injury. He remains in custody as investigations continue.
Detective Chief Inspector Michael Cox stated, “Sadly, a man has died and it is really important that we understand the circumstances of what has taken place.” Police are appealing for witnesses, particularly two individuals who assisted the injured man, one of whom is named Sophie, to come forward. “We would urge these two people to come forward to help us with our ongoing inquiries into this tragic incident,” Cox added.58
