Mallorca is bracing for severe weather conditions as an orange warning has been issued for thunderstorms and extreme heat, with temperatures expected to reach 39C. The Spanish Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has cautioned that 60mph winds and heavy rain are anticipated through Friday.
Tourists and locals alike are advised to take extreme precautions as the island prepares for the impending storms. The weather warning predicts that from 8pm, up to 40 litres of water per square meter could fall in just one hour, leading to potential flooding.6

Overnight conditions have been described as 'torrid', with temperatures not dropping below 25C across most of the island. The highest recorded temperature was 37.2C in Banyalbufar, while Pollença saw temperatures of 35.7C at 6:10 am.
In addition to the orange warning, yellow warnings are in effect for rough seas along the coastline, where wind speeds could reach 50mph. Menorca is also under a yellow weather warning as sea levels are expected to rise rapidly during the thunderstorms. Residents are urged to remain vigilant as conditions continue to develop.278
