LinkedIn is taking significant steps to combat the proliferation of AI-generated content on its platform. The introduction of a new button allows users to flag posts as "AI slop," addressing concerns that 41 percent of longform posts are entirely AI-generated.

“AI slop is a top priority for all of us,” said chief product officer Hari Srinivasan, emphasizing the platform's commitment to improving content quality.

In addition to the reporting button, LinkedIn is enhancing its content moderation by implementing new classifiers to identify low-quality posts, which will help “reduce the amount of AI slop you might see in suggested content and content from outside your network.”

Furthermore, the platform is discontinuing its AI enhancement feature, which previously modified posts, and replacing it with a proofreading tool that “does not change your voice,” according to Srinivasan. This shift aims to ensure that users maintain their authentic expression while still benefiting from grammatical corrections.

These updates reflect LinkedIn's ongoing efforts to create a more reliable and engaging environment for its users, as the rise of AI-generated content continues to challenge the integrity of online platforms.

Key Insight
“LinkedIn is removing a feature that used AI to 'enhance' posts and will replace it with a 'feature that proofreads your words, but does not change your voice,' according to Srinivasan. This change aims to improve user control over AI-generated content on the platform.”
