This controller introduces a
removable rechargeable battery, shifting away from traditional AA batteries, but with reduced capacity (1,528mAh compared to the Elite 2's 2,050mAh).
The Elite Series 3 is designed to facilitate
cloud gaming through a dedicated cloud button that enhances connectivity by enabling direct Wi-Fi access, thereby reducing latency during Xbox Cloud Gaming sessions. A pairing button allows seamless switching between local and cloud modes.
Additionally, new scroll wheel buttons have been integrated, likely aimed at improving control for flight simulation games. Its design showcases an
interchangeable D-pad, back paddles, and two new buttons, which have yet to be fully described.
According to analysts, the time since the last Elite controller refresh, specifically the last upgrade in 2019, signifies a strategic shift for Microsoft as they prepare for an official announcement at their showcase on June 7.
