- PUBG Mobile Light is described as a lower-footprint version of the battle royale hit.
- Krafton's revenue from PUBG franchise titles (PUBG Mobile, BGMI, and Peacekeeper Elite) rose 20.2% year on year to $810m (₹91,153.7bn) in H1 2026, part of a record-breaking half for the company overall.
- Krafton's total revenue hit $1.87bn (₹2.7tn), up 73.3% year on year, driven by PUBG franchise growth and Subnautica 2’s Early Access launch on PC, which has sold over 5m units; operating profit rose 38.3% to $683m (₹972.5bn), reaching 92% of Krafton’s full-year 2025 operating profit in just six months.
Krafton India is set to launch BGMI Lite by the end of 2026, a streamlined version of Battlegrounds Mobile India, aimed at making the game more accessible. This announcement follows the recent release of PUBG Mobile Light, which is designed to cater to players with limited storage and device capabilities.12
The initial download size for PUBG Mobile Light is approximately 1GB on Android and under 2GB on iOS, with additional content available for download separately. This approach is intended to lower the barrier to entry for new players, ensuring that more users can enjoy the battle royale experience without the need for high-end devices.
Krafton’s strategy reflects a growing trend in the gaming industry to create lighter versions of popular games. The producer of PUBG Mobile has confirmed that the core gameplay elements, including maps and combat mechanics, will remain consistent with the main game, allowing players to carry over their existing accounts and friends lists.
The launch of BGMI Lite is part of Krafton’s broader efforts to expand its user base and enhance engagement within the PUBG franchise, which has seen significant growth in recent years. In the first half of 2026, revenue from the PUBG franchise rose 20.2% year on year to $810m, contributing to a record-breaking overall revenue of $1.87bn for the company.
As the gaming landscape continues to evolve, Krafton’s focus on accessibility through lighter game versions may prove crucial in attracting a wider audience and sustaining growth in a competitive market.
