The Karnataka government has finalized the design and location for its ambitious Skydeck project, a 250-metre-high observation tower inspired by iconic global landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and the Statue of Liberty.
Set to be the tallest tower of its kind in South Asia, the Skydeck will be constructed in Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout (NPKL) near Kengeri, Bengaluru, after relocating from its original site to avoid disrupting academic activities.
"The project will be three times the height of Qutub Minar in Delhi, which stands at 73-metres tall," highlighting its monumental scale.
The tower will offer a
360-degree panoramic view of the city, enhancing Bengaluru's tourism appeal as part of the Brand Bengaluru initiative.
Spanning
25 acres with an estimated budget of
Rs 500 crore, the project aims to boost urban development and attract visitors.
The government’s decision to shift the location to NPKL near Kengeri came after months of opposition from academics concerned about increased tourist footfall affecting campus activities.
This landmark structure is expected to become a new symbol of Bengaluru, combining architectural grandeur with tourism development.
"The conceptual idea for the skydeck draws inspiration from iconic global structures such as the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the Statue of Liberty in New York," underscoring its design ambition.
The Skydeck project represents a significant investment in the city's infrastructure and tourism landscape, promising to elevate Bengaluru’s profile on the global stage.
