Shivakumar highlighted the sacrifices of 527 soldiers who died in the conflict, including 13 from Karnataka. He expressed his heartfelt condolences, saying, “My heart goes out to the martyrs and their families. I salute their supreme sacrifice.” The Chief Minister also acknowledged the contributions of various defense institutions, including HAL, BEL, BEML, DRDO, ISRO, ADA, and NAL, in strengthening national defense capabilities.67
Describing soldiers, youth, women, farmers, and taxpayers as the “five fingers” of the nation, he emphasized their collective strength in protecting the country. He assured the families of soldiers that the government is committed to their welfare, stating, “We welcome your suggestions and will consider any proposal that benefits the families of our defence personnel.”
