- Iran continues exchanging messages with the United States, but conditions for negotiations are currently absent, according to Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei.
- Baqaei accused Washington of repeatedly undermining diplomacy, stating that US actions had destroyed the conditions necessary for negotiations.
- Iran's immediate priority is defending its sovereignty rather than engaging in negotiations, as stated by Baqaei.
- Tensions between the US and Iran have intensified in recent weeks, with the US carrying out attacks on Iran and Tehran responding by targeting US military facilities in the region.
Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei emphasized that while the country is in communication with the United States, the conditions for negotiations do not exist. He criticized U.S. military actions, stating they have undermined diplomacy and violated prior agreements.
In an interview with Austria’s ORF television, Baqaei declared, “We are exchanging messages, but our priority now is defending Iran’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and people.” He reiterated that Iran's immediate focus is on defending its sovereignty rather than pursuing talks.

Tensions have escalated recently, with the U.S. conducting strikes against Iran, prompting Tehran to retaliate by targeting U.S. military facilities in the region, including Bahrain, Jordan, and Kuwait. Baqaei described the U.S. actions as a continuation of an “illegal war” against Iran, reflecting Washington's failure to honor its commitments.
He also pointed out that European nations have not fulfilled their obligations following the U.S. withdrawal from the nuclear agreement, stating they “owe Iran a great debt” for abandoning their commitments.
