Apple's iPhone Ultra foldable is set to launch on September 9, featuring a 7.8-inch inner OLED display and powered by the A20 chip. The device is expected to be priced over $2,000, making it one of Apple's most expensive offerings.

The iPhone Ultra will adopt a book-style design, with a 5.5-inch outer display and a 4:3 aspect ratio for the inner screen, which is wider than many current foldables. In contrast, the Xiaomi 18 Fold has a 5.38-inch AMOLED cover display and a 7.58-inch AMOLED inner screen, both supporting a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 4,000 nits of peak brightness.

While the Xiaomi 18 Fold is powered by a 3nm 10-core Xring O3 AI chipset and features a 6,000mAh battery, the iPhone Ultra is rumored to utilize a dual-battery design with cells on either side of the fold. The Xiaomi model starts at CNY 10,999 (approximately ₹1.55 lakh), while the iPhone Ultra's pricing is expected to exceed $2,000 (around ₹1.89 lakh).

As the Xiaomi 18 Fold is already available for pre-order in China, Apple has yet to officially announce its foldable device, but it is anticipated to unveil it alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max on September 9.

Key Insight
“The iPhone Ultra is rumored to be thinner at 4.5mm unfolded versus the Xiaomi 18 Fold's 5.02mm, with a special display construction to reduce the crease. It may feature two 48MP rear cameras, possibly omitting a telephoto lens due to space constraints.”
