- Pixxel has raised $100 million in a Series C funding round, marking the largest single funding round by an Indian space-tech company.
- The funding round was co-led by Temasek and Seraphim Space, with participation from new investors 360 ONE Asset and IMM Investment, as well as existing backers Radical Ventures and growX Ventures.
- This investment brings Pixxel's total funding to $195 million, which includes previous rounds.
- Pixxel plans to use the funds to expand its satellite sensing capabilities, develop Earth intelligence software, and increase satellite manufacturing capacity in India and the US.
- Pixxel was founded in 2019 by Awais Ahmed and Kshitij Khandelwal, initially focusing on hyperspectral Earth observation satellites.
- In December 2024, Pixxel announced a $24 million extension that took its total Series B funding to $60 million.
- Pixxel launched three Firefly satellites in January 2025, followed by another three later that year.
- NASA selected Pixxel in 2024 as part of its Commercial SmallSat Data Acquisition programme.
- In May 2026, the US National Reconnaissance Office awarded Pixxel a contract under its Strategic Commercial Enhancements programme.
Indian space technology startup Pixxel has raised $100 million in a Series C funding round, marking a significant milestone as the largest funding round for a space technology company in India. The round was co-led by Temasek and Seraphim Space, with participation from existing investors like Radical Ventures and GrowX Ventures, as well as new investors 360 ONE Asset and IMM Investment.1

With this funding, Pixxel aims to enhance its satellite sensing capabilities and develop its Earth intelligence software. The company plans to expand its satellite manufacturing capacity in both India and the US, and is set to launch its first Honeybee hyperspectral satellite in 2027. This satellite will extend observations into the shortwave infrared spectrum and will be part of a broader initiative to develop sovereign Earth observation systems.
Founder and CEO Awais Ahmed stated, “Years ago, we set out to build a health monitor for the planet. With this investment, we now have the scale to turn that vision into planetary infrastructure.” The company currently operates six Firefly hyperspectral satellites, which form the world’s highest-resolution commercial hyperspectral satellite constellation, providing imagery across more than 135 spectral bands with a ground resolution of about five metres.

Pixxel's vision is to combine persistent sensing from multiple satellite constellations with advanced software to convert vast amounts of Earth observation data into actionable intelligence. Ahmed emphasized the strategic necessity of understanding the physical world in the coming decades, addressing challenges related to climate, resources, food, energy, infrastructure, and national security.
“The round was co-led by Temasek and Seraphim Space, with participation from 360 ONE Asset and IMM Investment, bringing Pixxel's total funding to $195 million. The capital will fund the Honeybee hyperspectral constellation, with the first satellite expected to launch in 2027, and expand manufacturing in India and the US.”
