The attack was met with immediate response from an off-duty state trooper and a civilian, who fired at Williams, diverting him from the restaurant. Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks remarked, "We believe their actions drove the suspect from the scene, preventing further casualties".
A candlelight vigil was held at Twin Falls City Park, and flags in the city are at half-staff until next week as the community mourns the tragic loss.101112
