Hull City sign Lucas Gourna-Douath from Red Bull Salzburg on five-year deal; midfielder says 'I'm really happy' to join Premier League club

Hull City has signed French midfielder Lucas Gourna-Douath from Red Bull Salzburg on a five-year deal, marking a significant addition to their squad.¹²³⁴⁵

Gourna-Douath, who started his career at Saint-Etienne, made 95 appearances for Salzburg and spent last season on loan at Le Havre, where he played 15 games in Ligue 1.

“I’m really happy because it was such a long journey from the first phone call until I signed. I’m so excited to get started,” Gourna-Douath said, highlighting his eagerness to join the Premier League club.

The midfielder, a French Under-21 international, has a proven track record with 76 outings in Ligue 1 and 64 in the Austrian Bundesliga, along with 17 in the Champions League.

He expressed his enthusiasm for playing in front of Hull's fans, stating, “I know is a big family club. Playing in front of our fans will be fun. It will be amazing for me.”

Gourna-Douath's signing is part of Hull's busy transfer market activity, as they look to strengthen their squad after securing promotion last season. He could make his debut in the upcoming friendly against French Ligue 1 side Nice.
