In light of the Berlin attack, Higino Monteiro, interim general manager of Fierté, expressed deep sadness and condemned the violence, stating, “We strongly condemn this attack and call for unity within our movements to support our communities and protect the spaces that allow all people to live their identity freely, celebrate, and advocate safely.”56
To enhance safety, 300 security personnel will oversee the parade, with police vehicles blocking all side streets and emergency overpasses along the route. Additionally, the pedestrianized zone in the Village will be reinforced with extra barriers, and all festival-goers at Olympic Park will be required to pass through a metal detector.28
