Jharkhand students expressed outrage after the high court intervened to stay the government's cancellation of appointments from the 11th and 13th JPSC exams. Student leaders, under the JPSC-JSSC Reforms Manch, accused the government of deceiving job aspirants, claiming it failed to defend its decision in court.1

"Neither the advocate general nor any senior advocate appeared in the high court on Thursday to defend the government's stand of cancelling the recruitment exams," said Kunal Pratap Singh, a leader of the Manch. He described the situation as a trap aimed at ending protests.6

The students had previously staged a 26-day protest at Ranchi's Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium against the government's decision to cancel 22 recruitment exams. Ravindra Paswan, another leader, stated, "We believed in the government's intention and thought it wanted a crackdown on irregularities in recruitment examinations, but we were wrong. The government has deceived thousands of job aspirants."234

In response to the court's ruling, which also stayed the cancellation of food safety officer appointments, JLKM leader Devendra Nath Mahto emphasized the need for justice for deserving candidates while maintaining a firm stance against corruption. He stated, "We began the movement not against any candidate, but against corruption, irregularities, and systemic flaws in the recruitment exams process."789

The high court has requested the state to provide a response by September 15, with the next hearing scheduled for that date.
