Gardaí have initiated a murder investigation after the body of Jady Cristine Pereira Rosa, a 33-year-old Brazilian woman, was discovered in an apartment in Limerick on Friday morning. The incident occurred at approximately 7.30am in the Carlton House complex on Cecil Street, where she was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead at the scene.12
Authorities are currently following a line of inquiry and are understood to be looking to question a man known to the victim. The scene remains preserved for a technical examination by the Garda Technical Bureau, and an incident room has been established at Henry Street Garda Station.67
Ms Pereira Rosa, originally from Sorocaba, São Paulo, had been living in Limerick for several years and was employed by a local cleaning company. Friends raised the alarm after she failed to meet them for work, prompting concerns for her safety. Local Fine Gael Councillor Daniel Butler paid tribute, describing her as “kind, friendly and bubbly,” and a significant part of the local community.10

A Garda Family Liaison Officer has been assigned to support her family, who are struggling to cope with the tragedy. Her brother expressed their shock, stating, “We are still in shock about what is happening. I never imagined that I would have to go through such an ordeal.”12
Gardaí are also gathering CCTV footage from the apartment block and surrounding areas as part of their investigation.
