- Initially, seven people were arrested, aged between 15 and 38.
- Two men, aged 19 and 38, and two women, 20 and 37, have been charged with murder, causing or allowing the death of a child and perverting the course of justice.
- A 15-year-old girl has also been charged with perverting the course of justice.
- Police said all five had been remanded in custody and were due to appear at Sheffield Magistrates' Court later.
- Two women, 26 and 37, who were arrested on suspicion of murder remain on bail, police added.
Five individuals, including two men aged 19 and 38 and two women aged 20 and 37, have been charged with murder in connection with the death of a newborn baby girl in Wincobank, Sheffield. The infant was discovered with stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene after police responded to reports of concern for her safety on Sunday morning.25
Initially, seven people were arrested, but five have been charged with murder, causing or allowing the death of a child, and perverting the course of justice by attempting to conceal the killing. A 15-year-old girl, whose identity is protected for legal reasons, has also been charged with perverting justice.46
All five suspects have been remanded in custody and are scheduled to appear at Sheffield Magistrates' Court. Two other women, aged 26 and 37, who were arrested on suspicion of murder, remain on bail.78
Detective Chief Inspector Tom Woodward stated, "This is a significant step in our investigation into the tragic circumstances that resulted in the death of this baby girl." He expressed gratitude to the community for their support during this traumatic incident and urged the public to refrain from speculation about the case as the legal process unfolds.
