Cahalane, a drug dealer, was attacked at his home in Plymouth on February 21, suffering horrific injuries from sulphuric acid. He died in hospital ten weeks later.
The court heard that Wilson had provided information to a crime gang about Cahalane's whereabouts, facilitating the attack. "You were arguably the key participant in this offence - whether you were motivated by your dislike of your husband, or greed, or both," said Ms Justice Norton during sentencing.7
Wilson's defense claimed she was deeply remorseful, but she had previously stated, "He's not a victim. He brought all this on himself," indicating her complex feelings towards Cahalane.
The attack was linked to Cahalane's significant drug debt of around £120,000 to a crime boss, which led to threats and ultimately the violent retribution of the acid attack.
Alongside Wilson, others involved in the attack received lengthy sentences, including life imprisonment for the murderers, Abdulrasheed Adedoja and Israel Augustus, who were sentenced to a minimum of 29 and 28 years, respectively.
The trial revealed Wilson's involvement in a prior kidnapping attempt against Cahalane, showcasing a troubling dynamic between the couple.
In a victim impact statement, Cahalane's aunt described his loss as "immeasurable," highlighting the tragic consequences of the crime.
“Wilson, 35, of Plymouth, was jailed for nine years — eight years for manslaughter and 12 months for attempted kidnapping. Sentencing her, Ms Justice Norton said: “Whatever your motivation was, whether money, security or revenge, in that moment, your main concern was yourself.””
