Elon Musk has officially rebranded SpaceX's AI division to SpaceXSI, a move that aligns with President Trump's recent executive order promoting the term 'Super Intelligence'. Musk confirmed the change in a post on X, stating, 'No more AI. SI, it’s better.'125
The executive order, titled 'Inaugurating the Era of Super Intelligence', aims to redefine AI terminology in public communications and government reports, although congressional references remain unchanged until further amendments are made. Musk's rebranding follows the establishment of SpaceXAI just months prior, after the acquisition of xAI in a $1.25 trillion deal.6
This rebranding marks a significant shift in Musk's approach to AI, reflecting his long-standing concerns about the potential dangers of uncontrollable super intelligence, as highlighted in his endorsement of Nick Bostrom's 2014 book, 'Superintelligence: Paths, Dangers, Strategies.' Musk has previously warned that super intelligence could pose a greater threat than nuclear weapons.
The renaming to SpaceXSI not only signifies a new identity for the division but also underscores Musk's close ties with the Trump administration, during which xAI's Grok was contracted for government work while Musk served as a special adviser in 2025.
“The rebranding follows Trump's order 'Inaugurating the Era of Super Intelligence,' which applies to public communications and government websites. Musk previously endorsed Nick Bostrom's 2014 book warning of uncontrollable super intelligence, which he said could be more dangerous than nuclear weapons.”
