Elon Musk has officially announced that Grok 4.5 has entered private beta testing at SpaceX and Tesla, showcasing promising early performance. The model is built on a new 1.5-trillion-parameter V9 foundation, enhanced with training data from the AI coding platform Cursor.¹²³⁴

According to Musk, early internal evaluations suggest the model performs close to, and in some cases exceeds, Anthropic’s Claude Opus, although these claims have not been independently verified. Musk emphasized that reinforcement learning continues to improve the model, praising the teams involved in its development.⁵⁶

Musk also outlined an ambitious roadmap, stating, “The new AI models trained from scratch will be released every month for the rest of the year, reflecting a much faster development cycle than previous versions.” This rapid development cycle indicates a significant shift in the pace of AI advancements at xAI, aiming to keep up with leading competitors in the field.⁷
