- Elastic has completed the acquisition of Deductive AI, an AI-powered investigation platform that helps engineering teams identify and resolve production issues faster.
- This acquisition advances Elastic's goal to set the standard for production incident investigation by bringing more AI-powered investigation and automation to Elastic Observability.
- "Engineering teams today are drowning in telemetry but starved for answers," said Ash Kulkarni, CEO of Elastic.
- Deductive AI adds an AI SRE agent that gathers evidence, forms and tests hypotheses, and reasons across code, telemetry, and organizational knowledge to determine root cause.
- Existing Deductive AI customers will continue to receive support while integration plans are developed.
- The acquisition will add Deductive AI’s artificial intelligence-powered investigation platform to Elastic’s observability solution, aiming to reduce the time engineers spend understanding incidents.
- AI SRE is an AI-powered debugging agent that begins investigating as soon as an incident fires, correlating signals from across the stack and guiding engineers through root cause analysis.
- By the time an engineer reads the incident details, AI SRE has already assembled a rich diagnostic summary, providing insights into what broke and what changed.
Elastic has completed its acquisition of Deductive AI, enhancing its observability solutions with AI-driven incident investigation capabilities. CEO Ash Kulkarni stated, "Engineering teams today are drowning in telemetry but starved for answers." The integration aims to streamline the process of identifying and resolving production issues, reducing manual effort and time spent on investigations.1345
Deductive AI's platform employs an AI SRE agent that initiates investigations immediately when incidents occur, gathering evidence and forming hypotheses across various data sources. This approach allows teams to transition from detection to resolution more efficiently. "We've always believed that engineering teams deserve better than hours spent manually tracing the root cause of every incident," said Rakesh Kothari, former CEO of Deductive AI.78

The AI SRE agent operates by launching three investigation tracks in parallel: platform health checks, service-level analysis, and runbook execution. This comprehensive method ensures that by the time engineers engage with the incident, a detailed diagnostic summary is already prepared, highlighting what went wrong and suggesting next steps.

Currently, AI SRE supports over 150 teams at Databricks, with more than 250 active users conducting over 2,000 investigations daily, significantly reducing debugging time. "AI SRE has transformed incident response by unifying metrics, logs, and dependency health," noted Adama Kone, Manager of the NOC Team.
As Elastic integrates Deductive AI's capabilities, existing customers will continue to receive support while new features are developed, aiming to set a new standard in production incident investigation.2
“Deductive AI's AI SRE agent launches three parallel investigation tracks—platform health checks, service-level analysis, and runbook execution—to produce an initial assessment before engineers open their laptops. At Databricks, AI SRE supports over 150 teams with 250+ weekly active users running 2,000+ investigations daily.”
