Federal prosecutors have unsealed indictments against 10 noncitizens for illegally voting in Minnesota, revealing a troubling trend of voter fraud. The defendants, hailing from countries such as Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, and South Africa, are accused of falsely claiming citizenship to participate in elections.1

During a news conference, U.S. Attorney for Minnesota Daniel Rosen stated that these indictments stem from a "general tolerance for fraud" in the state. The charges include voting by an alien and falsely claiming citizenship, with some defendants allegedly participating in the August 2026 primary election.211

The indictments do not specify where the defendants registered or how they cast their votes. However, records indicate that 57 charges of ineligible voters knowingly voting were filed statewide from 2021-25, resulting in 14 convictions. Weihmann, one of the defendants, is already facing charges in state court for voting while ineligible. She is a green card holder who has been in the U.S. since 2015 and allegedly cast ballots in both the 2022 and 2024 elections.569

The Minnesota Secretary of State’s Office reported that 3,272,414 votes were cast in the 2024 general election, underscoring the scale of the issue as authorities continue to investigate and address voter fraud concerns.
