Mumbai police have confiscated assets worth Rs 57 lakh from Ranjeet Kumar, alias Munna, a thief who disguised himself as a woman to commit thefts in affluent neighborhoods.

The accused had been evading police and CCTV surveillance by cross-dressing, enabling him to carry out multiple thefts in posh areas of Mumbai. Following several reports of thefts in high-end societies, authorities intensified their search for Kumar.

"The accused had been committing thefts in posh areas of Mumbai and was able to evade the police and the CCTV cameras installed in the vicinity by disguising himself as a woman," police sources said.

Recovered stolen items and assets include a flat in Mumbai, a bungalow in Bihar, Rs 10 lakh as a down payment for land in Bihar, Rs 6 lakh as an advance for another house in Mumbai, and Rs 13 lakh in a bank account.

"Stolen items worth Rs 57 lakh have been recovered from the rich thief," police confirmed.

All these assets have been confiscated as part of the ongoing investigation. The case highlights the challenges law enforcement faces when criminals use disguise tactics to avoid detection.

Authorities are now focusing on the next steps, including legal proceedings and further investigation into Kumar's network and activities.
