CoinSwitch Ventures has rebranded as BlackLane Capital, shifting its focus from Web3 to a broader range of early-stage startups, including fintech and consumer applications. The firm plans to invest over $100 million in startups over the next five years, with cheque sizes up to $5 million.124
Previously, the firm primarily invested in Web3 and blockchain projects, but co-founder Ashish Singhal noted that the decision to rebrand reflects their experience with founders across various sectors. “Good founders and good businesses are not confined to any one sector,” Singhal stated, emphasizing the need to solve real problems and build strong teams.
BlackLane Capital will maintain a focus on digital assets but will no longer be limited to a single technology category. The firm has already backed startups like Stan, Deconflict, Yousend, and Uniblock since its inception in 2023. “We are not moving away from Web3,” Singhal reassured, highlighting ongoing opportunities in that space.6
The firm has built a network of around 100 global venture capital partners, including notable names like Andreessen Horowitz and Sequoia Capital, to enhance its investment capabilities. BlackLane Capital aims to combine capital with strategic support, leveraging the wider PeepalCo ecosystem to assist portfolio companies in product strategy and fundraising.5
The rebranding comes as CoinSwitch strengthens its financial position, having turned profitable in FY26 and raised over $300 million to support its investment ambitions.
“BlackLane Capital will shift its investment mix to 90% direct equity and 10% tokens, up from the previous 50:50 split, according to co-founder Ashish Singhal. The firm has already backed 26 startups including Stan, Deconflict, Yousend, and Uniblock, and plans to target fintech and consumer opportunities in Nigeria, South Asia, and LATAM.”
