The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) concluded its 36-day protest at Jantar Mantar after the government accepted key demands, including the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.1
Pradhan resigned amid escalating protests, stating it was not about his prestige but to prevent anti-national forces from exploiting the situation.
CJP spokesperson Saurav Das announced the withdrawal of protests across India, highlighting the government's agreement to provide honourable compensation to families of NEET suicide victims and the withdrawal of FIRs against protesters.3
“We discussed these issues in detail,” said CJP leader Ranka, emphasizing the need for broader reforms in the education sector.
The government will share a written guarantee of these agreements by Tuesday, with the next round of talks scheduled in four weeks to review the situation and discuss future strategies.25
“We will meet again in four weeks with that demand charter so that we can work on broader reform,” Ranka added, indicating ongoing negotiations.
The CJP's demands included the resignation of Pradhan, withdrawal of cases against protesters, and assurances that no future cases would be filed.
“If any FIRs have already been registered, whether by the Delhi Police or in BJP-ruled states, it will be withdrawn,” stated BJP leader Nadda, reinforcing the government's commitment to addressing the protesters' concerns.
