Citi launches Japan Airlines Mileage Bank as 1:1 transfer partner; offers 30% transfer bonus through October 24, 2026

Citi has officially added Japan Airlines Mileage Bank as a transfer partner, allowing cardholders to convert points at a 1:1 ratio. To celebrate, Citi is offering a 30% transfer bonus until October 24, 2026, making it an attractive option for travelers.¹²

Eligible cardholders with an annual fee card can transfer 1,000 ThankYou Points to receive 1,300 JAL miles, while those with no-annual-fee cards can convert the same amount for 910 JAL miles. After the bonus period, the standard rates will revert to 1,000 ThankYou Points to 1,000 JAL miles for annual fee cardholders and 1,000 to 700 for no-annual-fee cardholders.³⁴

This partnership positions Citi alongside Bilt as one of the few programs offering a 1:1 transfer to JAL, enhancing the appeal of Citi's ThankYou points. Notably, Tokyo has emerged as the top international destination for Citi Travel bookings, reflecting the growing interest in travel to Japan.

However, users should be aware that JAL's Mileage Bank requires accounts to be active for 60 days before making award redemptions. This new partnership is expected to provide significant opportunities for earning and redeeming miles, especially for premium cabin travel on Japan Airlines and its partners.
