Chennai police arrest youth with five prior cases for stealing Yamaha R15 bikes

Chennai police have apprehended a 20-year-old youth with a history of five prior criminal cases for stealing Yamaha R15 sports bikes in the city.

The arrest followed a complaint by Venkatesan, who reported his Yamaha R15 missing after parking it outside his home on May 25. Police investigation led to the recovery of Venkatesan's bike along with two other stolen Yamaha R15s from the accused.

"The police have arrested a 20-year-old youth who targeted and stole sports bikes in and around Chennai," officials said.

The suspect's repeated offenses highlight ongoing challenges in curbing bike thefts in the region. Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine if more stolen vehicles can be linked to the youth.

"Police said that he already has five criminal cases against him," underscoring his persistent involvement in criminal activities.

This arrest is expected to bring some relief to bike owners in Chennai, especially those with high-value sports bikes like the Yamaha R15, which have been frequent targets for thieves.
