Milo Yiannopoulos, a controversial figure known for his far-right views, was deported from the U.S. to the U.K. after being arrested by ICE at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.12
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security stated that Yiannopoulos, who entered the U.S. legally in May 2019, overstayed his visa and was subject to a final order of removal issued on July 22 after he failed to attend an immigration hearing.3
Yiannopoulos, 41, was reportedly on his way to a concert by rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, when he was detained.4
A DHS spokesperson emphasized that Yiannopoulos “chose to overstay his welcome in violation of our nation’s laws” and that the administration is committed to ensuring that individuals in the U.S. illegally are removed.
Yiannopoulos has been a vocal supporter of strict immigration policies and has previously advocated for immediate deportations for those unable to prove residency.
His representatives did not respond to requests for comment following his deportation.
