A terror attack in Boulder, Colorado, has heightened concerns over rising antisemitic hate crimes in the United States amid escalating Israel-Hamas conflict.

The FBI identified Mohamed Sabry Soliman as the suspect who used a makeshift flamethrower to attack pro-Israel demonstrators during a "Run for Their Lives" walk, held to remember Israeli hostages in Gaza.

"We are aware of and fully investigating a targeted terror attack in Boulder, Colorado," FBI Director Kash Patel said.

Six victims, aged between 67 and 88, were hospitalized with burn injuries, one in serious condition. Witnesses described seeing women severely burned, with one wrapped in a flag for protection.

"We are saddened and heartbroken to learn that an incendiary device was thrown at walkers... raising awareness for the hostages still held in Gaza," said Boulder’s Jewish Community.

Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser labeled the incident as a hate crime, noting the targeted nature of the attack.

This incident reflects growing tensions in the U.S., where antisemitic hate crimes and clashes between pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian groups have surged amid the ongoing war.

The attack underscores the volatile atmosphere surrounding the conflict and the urgent need for vigilance against hate-driven violence.

"It appeared to be a hate crime given the group that was targeted," Weiser added.

The FBI continues its investigation into the attack, emphasizing the seriousness of the threat posed by such targeted violence.

This event has sparked widespread alarm and calls for increased protection of vulnerable communities amid rising hate crimes nationwide.
