Bhool Chuk Maaf, featuring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi in their first collaboration, is set for its OTT premiere on Amazon Prime Video on June 6, 2025, following a truncated theatrical release.

The film, which debuted in theatres on May 23, 2025, faced significant challenges due to geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan. Maddock Films initially planned an early OTT release on May 16, 2025, but this move sparked a legal battle with multiplex chains PVR and Inox.

"The legal tussle reportedly resulted in a Rs 60-crore loss and forced the film to wrap up its theatrical run in just two weeks — a big shift from the industry norm of an eight-week window," sources revealed.

The storyline centers on Ranjan, a small-town man who lands a government job to marry his love, Titili, only to find himself trapped in a time loop the night before their wedding.

The early OTT release is seen as a strategic attempt to recover the substantial losses incurred from the curtailed box office run.

"The film was released in theatres on May 23, 2025. It will now have its OTT premiere on Amazon Prime on June 6, 2025," confirmed the production house.

This case highlights the growing friction between traditional theatrical windows and digital streaming platforms, especially amid external disruptions.

As the film transitions to OTT, industry watchers will be keen to see if the digital premiere can offset the financial setbacks caused by the legal and geopolitical hurdles.
