The tragic stampede during Royal Challengers Bangalore's IPL victory celebrations on June 4 has led to a magisterial inquiry and FIRs against RCB, KSCA, and event organizers.

The incident, which claimed 11 lives, occurred outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium and Vidhana Soudha, where massive crowds had gathered. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said, "The number of people and fans gathered was beyond our expectations. More than 1 lakh people gathered in front of Vidhana Soudha."

Despite prior warnings from the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) MN Karibasavana Gowda about insufficient security and the need for additional police personnel, the event proceeded without adequate preparation. The DCP had written to the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms highlighting the risks of holding the celebrations.

"He stressed the need for 'additional police personnel from outside' to oversee the security, even though it will 'require sufficient preparation time'."

Following the tragedy, the Karnataka government increased compensation for victims' families from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 25 lakh each. Several officials, including Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda, have been suspended for alleged negligence.

An FIR was registered under sections including culpable homicide not amounting to murder against RCB, DNA Entertainment, and KSCA, reflecting the serious legal consequences.

The Chief Minister expressed his pain over the incident but clarified he had no connection with the stadium event, which was organized by KSCA.

This tragedy has raised critical questions about crowd management and accountability during large public celebrations in Bengaluru.
