Bengaluru police probe CCTV and witnesses after woman’s murder and Rs 2 lakh theft

Bengaluru police are intensifying their investigation into the murder of 40-year-old Latha, who was found strangled in her rented Cottonpet home.

Preliminary findings suggest the assailants killed Latha before stealing valuables, including approximately 150 grams of gold jewellery and Rs 2 lakh in cash. The family was reportedly preparing for their daughter's wedding, which explains the presence of significant cash and jewelry at the residence.

Latha's husband, Prakash, discovered the crime upon returning home for lunch, shocked by the loss and the brutal nature of the attack.

Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the area and conducting interviews with acquaintances and family friends to identify the perpetrators. Police suspect the crime was orchestrated by someone familiar with the family, indicating a planned robbery.

"Police think someone who knew the family planned the robbery," officials said.

The investigation remains active as officers seek to bring the culprits to justice and provide closure to the grieving family.
