Santa Monica Studio revealed at Comic-Con that 'God of War Laufey' will be released on February 16, 2027. The studio confirmed that a sequel featuring Kratos is already in development, directly tying into Laufey's narrative.¹²

Studio head Cory Barlog emphasized that the upcoming game will expand on the existing lore, stating, "Everything we are doing in the Faye game is a continuation of what came before and to set up and expand what comes next."

Game director Ariel Lawrence echoed this sentiment, adding, "We can’t not tell stories about the big guy." The studio's messaging indicates that Kratos will remain a significant presence in the franchise, with Barlog noting, "There’s always going to be Kratos games throughout the whole history."
