Assam CM Himanta Sarma to reveal evidence on Gaurav Gogoi's Pakistan links on Sept 10

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has intensified his allegations against Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, claiming he possesses documents proving Gogoi and his wife are involved in "anti-India activities" and have connections with Pakistan's army and interior department.

"On September 10, I am going to reveal their relationship with the Pakistan army, the interior department of Pakistan and how they are doing all these things for a climate lobby," Sarma declared.

Sarma also criticized Gogoi's nationalist credentials, pointing out that Gogoi's wife and their two children hold British passports. The Chief Minister accused Gogoi of secretly visiting Pakistan multiple times, which Gogoi initially dismissed but later admitted to a single visit around 2013 related to his wife's climate change work.

Gogoi vehemently denied the allegations, calling them a politically motivated smear campaign aimed at distracting from Sarma's own family's alleged illegal activities and amassed wealth. He described Sarma's claims as a "C-grade Bollywood movie with a so-called release date of September 10."

He emphasized that his wife's work in Pakistan was part of an international climate project and challenged Sarma to conduct proper investigations.

"I have documents to prove his (Gogoi) wife's involvement in collecting Indian Intelligence input," Sarma said, asserting the seriousness of the accusations.

The controversy has escalated with Gogoi receiving a CID notice, which he condemned as an attempt to intimidate and suppress his voice. Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) is probing alleged interference by a Pakistani national linked to Gogoi's British wife.

This political confrontation unfolds as Gogoi recently assumed the role of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee president, with speculation about his future leadership roles within the party. Gogoi urged the Chief Minister to focus on pressing state issues like illegal mining and drug problems instead of personal attacks.

"The Congress will lead the fight to defeat the corrupt state government and will offer a new development model to Assam," Gogoi stated.

The September 10 revelation by Sarma is highly anticipated amid these escalating tensions.
