The company stated that users who currently receive these notifications may lose access when upgrading to the new models until clearance is granted. Countries not affected include the United States, UK, and all EU nations.
The Series 12 features upgraded optical and electrical heart sensors, enhancing tracking accuracy and frequency. Apple's Vice President of Worldwide iPhone Product Marketing, Kaiann Drance, described the Series 12 as “the most advanced health and fitness companion we’ve ever created.”
The Series 12 starts at $399 for the 42mm aluminum case, matching the price of the Series 11, while the 46mm model is priced at $449. The titanium variants start at $699 and the new ceramic variant at $899.
Both models maintain a battery life of up to 24 hours per charge, extendable to 38 hours in Low Power Mode, with improved charging speed allowing for up to 12 hours of usage from a quick 15-minute charge. Apple has also upgraded the health sensing system, measuring heart rate every five seconds.
The Series 12 retains core features from its predecessor, including Sleep Score and Fall Detection, while introducing new capabilities like Readiness and Audio Intelligence tools.
