Tech sites like MacRumors and 9to5Mac have indicated that devices running iOS 26.6.1 are undergoing internal testing, as evidenced by visitor logs showing activity from these devices. According to 9to5Mac, “iOS 26.6.1 started appearing in visitor logs for 9to5Mac this week”, suggesting that Apple is actively working on this update.

The update is expected to address issues such as a Shortcuts app problem that emerged with iOS 26.6. Apple has accelerated its update schedule in response to AI-driven security concerns, which has prompted the company to prioritize security fixes. The release could occur as early as August 10, depending on the urgency of the fixes needed.
