Anthropic achieved a monumental milestone by securing $65 billion in its latest funding round, skyrocketing its valuation to $965 billion and establishing itself as the most valuable AI startup, surpassing OpenAI's $852 billion.
The company’s founders, Dario and Daniela Amodei, each now hold stakes valued at around $8 billion, joining the ranks of the world’s wealthiest.
This significant financial leap marks a threefold increase in value from $380 billion in February, reinforcing Anthropic's dominance in AI ahead of expected IPOs for both it and OpenAI.
On Thursday, alongside the funding announcement, Anthropic released Opus 4.8, its latest AI model, which reportedly outperforms OpenAI’s GPT-5.5 and Google’s Gemini 3.1 Pro in various synthetic benchmarks.
“Opus 4.8 tops both OpenAI’s and Google’s models in a number of synthetic AI-focused benchmarks,” an Anthropic spokesperson revealed.
Anthropic's annual revenue run rate is currently estimated at $47 billion, up from $30 billion, indicating robust growth potential.
