The White House has confirmed that it will not intervene in the extradition process. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated, “No,” when asked if President Donald Trump would block the extradition. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio echoed this sentiment, saying, “There’s no role for us to play at this moment or maybe ever in that regard.”2
The Tates, known for their controversial online presence as self-professed misogynists, face a total of 42 charges against Andrew, including seven counts of rape and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation. Tristan faces 17 charges related to similar offenses.
Their lawyer, Joseph McBride, has claimed the arrests are “politically motivated” and stated that they will fight extradition. He emphasized their innocence, asserting, “It’s politically motivated. There’s no question about it.”
In addition to the UK charges, the Tates are also facing allegations in Romania, including trafficking minors and money laundering. A criminal investigation was launched against them in Florida in March 2025.6
