Amos Yee, 27, has been charged with four new offenses, including knowingly attempting to promote racial disharmony through blog posts made between April and July 2026. One charge stems from his April 7 and April 11 posts, where he claimed that Malays and Indians faced discrimination from the Chinese majority in Singapore, urging protests against the government.
Additionally, Yee uploaded a video on May 27, allegedly stating that the Malay/Muslim community was heavily discriminated against by the Chinese. He faces two charges under the Protection from Harassment Act (POHA) for advocating free speech for paedophiles in three videos made in 2021, where he controversially claimed that children could consent to sexual intercourse and called for the abolishment of laws against child abuse material.
Yee was granted $15,000 bail on August 26, with conditions prohibiting him from posting online about paedophilia or inciting racial tensions. He is scheduled for a pre-trial conference on September 18. If convicted of promoting racial disharmony, he could face up to three years in prison or a fine, while each POHA charge carries a potential fine of up to $5,000.
