AMD's new
Ryzen AI Halo workstation offers a direct challenge to Nvidia's market lead with a robust setup targeted at developers. Priced at
$3,999, it combines Ryzen AI Max 400 chips, which are capable of running
models with up to 300 billion parameters locally.
Pre-orders are scheduled to start in June 2026, with the
Halos expected to save developers up to $750 a month through localized processing instead of cloud usage.
The
integrated graphics will deliver around
56 teraFLOPS, while the
XDNA 2-based neural processing unit can achieve
50 TOPS, making it a powerhouse for AI applications. This move comes as AI increasingly transitions from
cloud-based systems to on-premises models, leading to a shift in how AI computing is managed.
Additionally, the system ships with five preinstalled
playbooks to streamline AI development and includes up to
192GB of unified memory for demanding workloads. AMD's new architecture, featuring the Ryzen AI Max PRO 400 Series, supports both Windows and Linux, thus broadening its utility to various users.
