Alexander Bublik climbs to No. 30 after stunning Halle title win over Medvedev

Alexander Bublik has climbed to No. 30 in the ATP rankings following his stunning victory at the Terra Wortmann Open in Halle, where he defeated Daniil Medvedev 6-3, 7-6(4). This win marks Bublik's second Halle title, making him only the third player in the tournament's 32-year history to win multiple titles, joining tennis greats Yevgeny Kafelnikov and Roger Federer.

The 27-year-old Kazakhstani showcased his trademark free-hitting style and mental resilience throughout the tournament, including a notable upset over World No. 1 and 2024 titlist Jannik Sinner in the second round. Bublik reflected on his journey, revealing, "I was close to calling it quits after Wimbledon, because I was not enjoying it anymore. I promised my coach that I would stay there and keep practising, and after Wimbledon we will make a decision about whether I need to take a couple of months off before trying to come back. Now this is happening. I don’t know."

He described the final as the toughest match of his life from a mental perspective, stating, "From the mental point of view, that’s the toughest match I ever played in my life. I have never beaten Daniil. He’s a super tough player to play, especially with my gamestyle, and today everything clicked in mentally and physically."

Bublik's victory not only cements his status as a rising star on grass courts but also highlights his ability to overcome challenges and deliver under pressure, signaling a promising trajectory in his tennis career.
